Chatterton School sixth-grade reporters recently collaborated on an article for Newsday’s Kidsday student journalism section. Allison Hill, Ian Klimov and Devin Zimmerman reviewed the book “Neema’s Reason to Smile” by Patricia Newman, about a young girl growing up in Kenya and pursues a better education for herself.
The book is based on a boy named Reagan who attends Jambo Jipya school in Kenya, thanks in part to Chatterton’s sixth-grade class’ fundraising efforts the last few years. The school intends to continue raising funds for Reagan this year.
Chatterton teacher Deborah Cain organized the students’ interview.
