Emergency Closings
The Merrick School District coordinates closings with the four other component districts of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. When schools are closed in an emergency, or due to weather conditions, announcements are made on our website, and on the District’s main phone number, 992-7200. In addition we will send a Blackboard Connect telephone message to all parents, and will also notify Channel 12.
A “no school” signal is also given by the Merrick Fire Department, which sounds its sirens at 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
If there is a 2-hour delay in opening - this means that students should report to school by 10:40 am.
If you receive transportation, the pickup time for your child will be 2 hours later than the regular pick up time.
-If parents need to drop off their children a little earlier, we will have staff members available at 10:00 a.m. to supervise children in the cafeteria until the school day starts.
If there is a delayed opening any before-school activities would be cancelled for the morning.
