Merrick Schools are once again among 935 districts nationwide named a Best Community for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. 

The district was selected for the 11th year for its role in supporting music as part of a well-rounded education. Dr. Richard Nasto, the district’s music coordinator based in Chatterton School, said the recognition is an honor. 

“The key to a successful music program is having talented and passionate teachers, supportive parents and staff, and of course, dedicated students,” noted Dr. Nasto. “In Merrick, we are grateful to have all these components. The honor of earning the Best Communities for Music Education Award is a wonderful recognition of the team effort that we share with all stakeholders." 

This award program recognizes schools committed to ensuring music learning opportunities are available for every student and provides an example for other communities to follow.
